How to Get a DUPR Rating
Getting a DUPR rating is simple, and there are multiple paths you can take to get your rating.
If you are just getting started with DUPR, the first step is to claim an existing DUPR profile (account) that may already have been set-up for you, or set-up a profile on your own.
Let’s take a look at these 2 options for getting your DUPR rating up and running.
How do I Claim a DUPR profile?
If you have played a lot of pickleball games or played in a tournament, there is a chance DUPR has already set-up a profile for you.
This can happen because another player entered your details (e.g., name, age, location) after a game, or because you played in a tournament that sent your details to DUPR.
To see if you already have a DUPR profile, go to mydupr.com (or download the iOS or Android app), click “Search Player”, and search by your name and location.
If you find a profile you think is yours, follow the steps to claim it by entering a few personal details. You can also email DUPR at support@mydupr.com if you need help or have questions.
How to Sign-up for DUPR
If you don’t have an existing DUPR profile then the first step is to sign-up with DUPR.
Go to mydupr.com or open their mobile app and click the “Sign Up” button:
Next enter the basic personal info DUPR requests:
After signing up DUPR will list your rating as “NR” (not-rated). This is simply a placeholder as DUPR awaits game results that will be used to assign your initial rating.
How Do You Get Your First DUPR Rating?
DUPR’s initial rating process calculates a rating 1 week after it receives your first game result. Once DUPR receives your first game result in its system (which can be entered by you or someone else in your group), it waits 7 days to allow you to enter more game results. This is because the more results you have the more accurate the DUPR rating will be, and DUPR wants to give you time to enter as many game results as possible.
7 days after receiving your first game results, DUPR calculates your initial rating (regardless of how many game results you've entered).
How Many Matches Does It Take to Get a DUPR Rating?
One match or game result is all it takes for DUPR to assign a rating to new/unrated players.
Keep in mind that the more game results DUPR has for you the more accurate your rating will be, so add as many game results as you can to help DUPR’s accuracy!

How Can I Raise my DUPR Rating?
The short answer is that playing and winning against players at or above your DUPR rating is the quickest way to raise your DUPR rating.
DUPR also weights tournament or club matches more than pure rec games, so playing in and winning tournament matches against similarly- or higher-rated players will move your DUPR needle faster.

What is an Example of a DUPR rating?
DUPR ratings are 4 digit ratings players get for both doubles and singles. The DUPR ratings scale goes from 2.0 to 8.0.

How Does the DUPR Rating System Work?
DUPR is based on an ELO-statistical model that is commonly used for ranking players or teams in head-to-head sports (e.g., chess, football, etc). DUPR uses game results and the ratings of players involved to assess the relative skill level of each player and assign ratings based on a player’s performance against their competition.
**Point differential was included in the DUPR rating until early 2023 when it was removed, and is being added back in 2024. Note that a close loss of 16-14 will hurt your rating less than a loss of 16-2.
